The state of Hawaii makes it very easy for couples to get married.  Marriage licenses are issued no earlier
than thirty days prior to your wedding date, there is no blood test required, and no documents need to be
obtained if you are coming from another country. The bride and groom must both be present, and your
marriage license is valid anywhere in the world. Agents are strategically placed on each island, so you can
choose one close to where you will be staying.A license appointment takes about fifteen minutes, and you
will be asked to fill out a form (available to you prior to your arrival). The future bride and groom will
then be required to present a valid photo identification such as a driver’s license or passport, along with a
fee of $69 in cash. Divorce papers also must be presented if the divorce was finalized within thirty days
of your wedding date. You must take your marriage license with you to the ceremony so that your
minister can sign it (witnesses are optional).

After the ceremony your minister will send in your signed and completed license application to the
department of health, which will take four to five months to issue you an official copy of your license.
When you apply for your license, your agent will provide a form that you may send in with a  $10 fee if
you would like to expedite this process.

To obtain more information, to receive an application, or to check up on your application afterward, you

Department of Health’s Web site
